We rely on the following legal bases (where applicable under GDPR/UK GDPR): contract performance (to process your purchases), legitimate interests (analytics, security, improving Services), consent (marketing emails, non-essential cookies), and legal obligation (record-keeping, tax compliance).
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies (small text files stored in your browser) and similar technologies (pixel tags, local storage, session identifiers) to operate and improve our Services.
Types of Cookies We Use
- Strictly Necessary: Essential for the website to function (e.g., session management, security tokens). These cannot be disabled.
- Functional: Remember your preferences (e.g., language, theme) to improve your experience.
- Analytics: Collect anonymised information about how visitors interact with our pages (see Section 5).
- Advertising: Used by Google AdSense and other ad partners to serve relevant advertisements based on your interests (see Section 6).
Managing Cookies
You may control non-essential cookies through our cookie-consent banner (displayed on first visit) or by adjusting your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality. Useful resources:
- Google - ads.google.com/home/tools/ads-settings
- NAI opt-out - optout.networkadvertising.org
- Your browser's Help documentation for cookie management
For California residents: we honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing of personal information.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and may use comparable analytics platforms to understand visitor behaviour, traffic sources, and content performance. These services may collect:
- Pages visited and session duration
- Geographic region (country/city level; not precise location)
- Device category, browser, and operating system
- Events such as clicks, downloads, and form submissions
Analytics data is processed under data-sharing agreements that restrict use to service-improvement purposes. Where technically feasible, we enable IP anonymisation and configure data retention to the minimum necessary period.
You may opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Advertising & Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our websites. Google and its partners use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to:
- Serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other websites;
- Measure ad performance and conversion events;
- Limit the number of times you see a particular ad; and
- Detect and prevent invalid traffic and click fraud.
Google's advertising practices are governed by the Google Advertising Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). Key points:
- Google may combine data from our site with data from its other services (e.g., Google Search, YouTube) to personalise ads.
- We do not control the specific advertisements displayed by Google.
- We do not pass personally identifiable information (PII) to Google for advertising purposes without your explicit consent.
Opting Out of Personalised Ads
- Visit Google Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com) to manage or disable personalised advertising from Google.
- Use the NAI Consumer Opt-Out Tool (optout.networkadvertising.org).
- Use the DAA WebChoices tool (optout.aboutads.info).
- Enable a browser-level "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal.
Opting out means you may still see ads, but they will be less tailored to your interests.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Third-party vendors who assist us in operating our Services (e.g., payment processors, email service providers, hosting companies) under contractual obligations to protect your data.
- Advertising & analytics partners: As described in Sections 5 and 6.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights and safety of MicroPlan Studio, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent: For any other purpose, with your explicit prior consent.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by applicable law:
- Account & purchase records: retained for 7 years to comply with financial and tax obligations, then securely deleted or anonymised.
- Contact form submissions: retained for up to 2 years unless an ongoing relationship exists.
- Analytics data: governed by the retention settings of the relevant platform (GA4 default: 14 months for user-level data).
- Marketing email lists: maintained until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression window to honour opt-out requests.
When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted, anonymised, or aggregated so it can no longer identify you.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. These include:
- HTTPS / TLS encryption for data transmitted to and from our Services;
- Restricted access controls so only authorised personnel can access personal data;
- Regular review and updating of our security practices; and
- Use of reputable, security-vetted third-party platforms for payment processing and hosting.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities as required by law.
